We can thank television for the term "Mommy-Makeover". Pregnancy, with or without breast-feeding, often leaves the mother with body changes she may not be pleased to see. Included among such changes are breasts which are smaller, or appear deflated, plus an excess of abdominal skin along with lax or stretched abdominal muscles as well. It should be noted that even without pregnancy, great weight loss or aging can produce these same problems.
For many decades, the way these women have been helped is through the combination of breast implants plus abdominoplasty ("tummy-tuck"), two operations that combine together very well. Even though these have been done together for almost half a century, only recently has the term "Mommy Makeover" been in use. Often some liposuction is added at the same time.
Technically speaking, the breast augmentation being done at the same time as the abdominoplasty can be performed using any of the four standard incisions (armpit, nipple, crease and navel), although some plastic surgeons prefer not to use a crease incision when adding a tummytuck at the same time. It is also possible, when a tummytuck is being done, to insert the implants directly up from the tummytuck area, without an added scar. With most tummy-tucks, there is a scar around the navel, so inserting the implants via the navel does not add another scar either.

One reason for the great popularity of the Mommy Makeover is that by combining procedures, there is only one recovery period, and another is that there is often some cost saving as well.
